Why Midjourney is Better Than Adobe FireFly

FireFly and Midjourney are both AI tools that generate images from text. However, the images produced by Midjourney are of higher quality. The reason for this is that FireFly is only trained on Adobe Stock images, which are fully licensed, and its data curation is very conservative, limiting its performance. On the other hand, Midjourney is trained on copyrighted content such as 4K Marvel comic images and movies, which allows it to create better images. FireFly's strength lies in its ability to avoid copyright issues, which is important for many consumers and businesses, although its image quality is not as good as Midjourney's.

This issue / impact on quality was confirmed by CEO of Stability AI, maker of Stable Diffusion.

Anthropic’s $5B, 4-year plan to take on OpenAI

Anthropic is a startup created in 2020 by former OpenAI researchers. They want to raise up to $5 billion over the next two years to challenge OpenAI and enter many industries. Anthropic's plan is to create a "frontier model" called "Claude-Next," which will be ten times more powerful than today's most advanced AI. The company will spend $1 billion on this project over the next 18 months. The model could automate large parts of the economy and power virtual assistants, research, and content generation.

Anthropic's Series C fundraising round reveals its strategy to compete with OpenAI and take on major industries. Google, James McClave, Eric Schmidt, Jaan Tallinn, and Facebook and Asana co-founder Dustin Moskovitz are among the backers, with Google pledging $300 million in Anthropic for a 10% stake in the startup. Anthropic has beta users and potential customers in various sectors, such as legal, medical, customer service, productivity, and education. More info here.

Snapchat Adds Safety Enhancements to My AI

Snapchat has been experimenting with its My AI chatbot, which is built with OpenAI's GPT technology. Since rolling it out to Snapchat+ subscribers six weeks ago, Snapchat has discovered its users' most common topics of discussion, including movies, sports, games, pets, and math. However, the company has also discovered that people have been attempting to trick My AI, and to address safety concerns, it has put safety enhancements in place and has new tools planned. One of the changes made involves the chatbot's data, which is treated differently because it is not a real friend. Additionally, age-appropriate experiences are a priority, and Snapchat offers parents and caregivers visibility into which friends their teens are communicating with through their in-app Family Center. Twitter Blocks Substack

Substack, the newsletter platform, has launched a new feature called "Notes," which allows users to share posts, quotes, comments, images, links, and ideas. Notes are displayed in a dedicated short-form feed that looks similar to Twitter, complete with like and comment counts. However, Substack argues that the feature is different from traditional social media feeds because it doesn't run on ads. Instead, the company's goal is to reward creators and convert casual readers into paying subscribers. After hearing of this Elon Musk Twitter disables likes, replies, and retweets If tweet have Substack links. More details here.

Google to Add Conversational AI to Search

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced that conversational AI features will be added to the company's search engine. The new technology will make it easier for the search engine to answer a variety of search queries, and provide users with a more conversational experience. This comes as Google faces pressure from competing chatbots such as ChatGPT, and also deals with wider business issues, such as investor pressure to cut costs. Pichai dismissed the notion that chatbots posed a threat to Google's search business, and said the opportunity space is bigger than before. Google has been a leader in developing computer programs called large language models, or LLMs, which can process and respond to natural-language prompts with human-like prose, and with the addition of conversational AI features to search, this could upend the traditional link-based experience. AI Could Could Impact 300 Million Full-time Jobs Worldwide

Goldman Sachs researchers recently conducted an analysis of occupational tasks in both the US and Europe. Based on their findings, they estimated that generative AI, if it lives up to its promised capabilities, could potentially automate 300 million full-time jobs globally. The report also noted that about two-thirds of current jobs are already exposed to some degree of AI automation. Generative AI, specifically, has the potential to substitute up to a quarter of current work. These findings shed light on the significant impact AI could have on the job market in the future. I tried ChatGPT and thought it would be awesome to chat with my own data. And now I can with Dropchat!

It lets me chat with books, files, websites, and even YouTube videos instantly. I can search for any book, upload PDF files, paste a website or YouTube URL, and save the best answers as flash cards for later review. It's like having a super smart and knowledgeable friend to chat with anytime.

Pretty cool, huh? Check it out here and short demo below using book Atomic Habits by James Clear.
