NVIDIA’s to make AI supercomputer in U.S.

NVIDIA announced it will build its AI supercomputers entirely in the U.S., partnering with TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL to establish 1 million square feet of domestic manufacturing and testing space. Production of its next-gen Blackwell chips has started in Arizona, with supercomputer assembly planned in Texas.Packaging and testing will also occur in Arizona to handle the complexity of AI chip production.

NVIDIA aims to produce up to $500 billion in AI infrastructure over four years, powering AI-optimized data centers and creating hundreds of thousands of U.S. jobs. CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the strategic importance of building the world’s AI infrastructure domestically to strengthen supply chains and meet global demand.

OpenAI’s "Verified Organization" process

OpenAI is introducing a "Verified Organization" process that will require organizations to complete identity verification using a government-issued ID to access its most advanced AI models and features. This move aims to enhance security and prevent misuse of its APIs, particularly in response to concerns about policy violations, IP theft, and nation-state exploitation, such as a suspected data exfiltration incident involving a China-based AI lab.

The verification, limited to eligible organizations and valid once every 90 days, reflects OpenAI’s broader effort to ensure responsible use as its models grow more powerful.

GOVERNMENT

OMB expands how agencies should buy AI

The Trump administration’s new OMB memo on AI acquisition emphasizes the evolving nature of how federal agencies buy and manage AI tools, with a notable focus on post-award oversight to prevent contract value loss. While it doesn’t introduce groundbreaking policies, it sets deadlines for GSA and agencies to improve guidance, knowledge-sharing, and procedures for managing intellectual property and data rights.

Experts praised its practical framing and emphasis on avoiding vendor lock-in, but also noted ambiguity in implementation and concerns over how it applies to current fiscal year acquisitions, highlighting the challenge of regulating rapidly evolving AI technologies.

Tech CEO charged in AI investment fraud

Albert Saniger, founder of the fintech app Nate, has been charged with fraud for deceiving investors by claiming the app used artificial intelligence to automate online purchases, when in fact, it relied on a team of call center workers in the Philippines to manually complete transactions.

Despite raising over $50 million since its 2018 launch and marketing itself as a seamless “one-click” AI shopping tool, an FBI investigation revealed that Nate’s automation was effectively nonexistent. The U.S. Department of Justice stated that Saniger exploited the hype around AI to mislead investors and build a false image of technological innovation.
