A.I. Helping Google Read Minds

Scientists have developed a cool technology that uses artificial intelligence to make music that matches the music someone recently heard. They did this by looking at the person's brain activity using special scans. The AI was trained to understand the connections between the music features (like instruments, genre, rhythm, and mood) and the brain signals. Then, it could create new music clips based on the person's brain activity. The AI did a pretty good job, but not perfect, in recreating the mood and style of the original music. They hope this will help us learn more about how our brains process music. In the future, they want to see if AI can even make music from what people are thinking about in their heads!

IBM and NASA Team Up to Fight Climate Change

IBM and NASA have joined forces to create a powerful computer program that uses geospatial data to fight climate change. This program can analyze satellite data to map floods and fire burn scars. It's super accurate and much faster than other methods. The cool thing is that with some adjustments, it can also be used to track deforestation, predict crop yields, and monitor greenhouse gases. This is a big deal because getting access to up-to-date geospatial data for climate science is challenging, even though there's a lot of data out there. The new model will make it easier for scientists to study and combat climate change.

Insurance Companies Join AI Chat Bot Trend

Kaiser Permanente is using a special computer program called an AI-based chatbot to help its patients with their medical needs. The chatbot works like a texting buddy. Patients can send a message about their health problem, and the chatbot will ask questions just like a doctor would during a visit. Based on the patient's answers, the chatbot gives suggestions on possible conditions and care options.

But don't worry, the chatbot doesn't replace doctors. Its purpose is to guide patients and make it easier for them to get the help they need. The idea is to free up more time for doctors to interact with patients as humans, instead of spending too much time on paperwork.

So, the chatbot is like a helpful assistant that supports patients, but the real connection with doctors is still essential for proper care.
