  Germany Considers Following Italy In Banning ChatGPT

Although the exact makeup of the data used for training remains a mystery, researchers have been able to piece together this fascinating mosaic of information.

On Tuesday, U.S. President Joe Biden expressed concern about the safety of artificial intelligence (AI), emphasizing that technology companies should prioritize ensuring their products are secure before releasing them to the public. While acknowledging the potential benefits of AI in tackling issues like disease and climate change, he also stressed the importance of addressing potential risks to society, national security, and the economy.

In a meeting with science and technology advisers, President Biden emphasized that tech companies should prioritize ensuring the security of their AI products before making them available to the public. When asked about the potential risks associated with AI, he acknowledged that it's still uncertain and there's a possibility of risks that need to be addressed.

Pause Giant AI Experiments: An Open Letter

A group of over 11,605 industry leaders, including Elon Musk, and researchers have signed an open letter urging all AI labs to put a hold on training AI systems that are more powerful than GPT-4 for a period of six months. The letter was published by the Future of Life Institute, a non-profit organization based in Pennsylvania. According to the letter, AI systems have become so advanced that they are now competing with humans in general tasks, which poses a risk of flooding the media with false information and automating many jobs. Google Denies Bard Was Trained With ChatGPT Data

ShareGPT is a website that allows users to publish their ChatGPT conversations for others to view, which could potentially give competitors, like Google, access to information that could be used to build competing products. However, Google has stated that their AI model, Bard, isn't trained on data from either ChatGPT or ShareGPT. It's unclear exactly what this means, but it's possible that Google may have previously used ShareGPT and later stopped.

AI Could Could Impact 300 Million Full-time Jobs Worldwide

Goldman Sachs researchers recently conducted an analysis of occupational tasks in both the US and Europe. Based on their findings, they estimated that generative AI, if it lives up to its promised capabilities, could potentially automate 300 million full-time jobs globally. The report also noted that about two-thirds of current jobs are already exposed to some degree of AI automation. Generative AI, specifically, has the potential to substitute up to a quarter of current work. These findings shed light on the significant impact AI could have on the job market in the future.
