Meta’s AI Music Launch
Meta recently released AudioCraft, an AI that lets users create music and sounds using generative AI. The company showcased sample audio made with AudioCraft to the media, with whistling, sirens, and humming sounding natural, but the guitar strings still felt a bit artificial.
While Google's MusicLM and other AI-generated music have been explored, Meta believes AudioCraft could revolutionize the music industry, akin to how synthesizers changed music in the past. However, they recognize the challenge in creating AI models for music due to the complexity of audio compared to written text. By open-sourcing AudioCraft, Meta aims to diversify the data used for training and address potential biases.
Nevertheless, concerns have been raised by record labels and artists about AI using copyrighted material. Before AudioCraft gains widespread acceptance, finding a compelling approach to attract fans interested in machine-made songs and not just background music will be crucial.
Alibaba Launches Llama 2 Alternative
Alibaba is sharing its artificial intelligence model with other developers. Alibaba's AI model, called Tongyi Qianwen, can work in English and Chinese languages and has different sizes with varying capabilities. Now, Alibaba is letting researchers and companies from all over the world use their AI model to make their own cool AI apps without having to train everything from scratch.
Although Alibaba won't make money from sharing the technology, it will attract more users to their AI model. This move is part of Alibaba's plan to focus on AI and cloud computing to grow and be a major player in technology. By sharing its AI model, Alibaba hopes to become a popular choice for companies and developers wanting to create exciting AI applications.
