41% of companies plan workforce cuts by 2030 due to AI

A World Economic Forum survey revealed that 41% of employers plan to downsize their workforce as artificial intelligence (AI) automates tasks, while 77% aim to reskill and upskill workers by 2030 to collaborate with AI more effectively. The WEF’s Future of Jobs Report highlighted AI's dual impact: it is driving demand for technology and specialist roles while contributing to job declines in areas like graphic design, payroll, and secretarial work.

While the report underscores AI's potential to augment human skills through collaboration, it acknowledges job losses caused by AI in industries such as tech and language learning, emphasizing the ongoing transformation of the labor market.

DHS reveals new artificial intelligence playbook

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released an AI playbook to guide federal and local officials in using generative AI responsibly, emphasizing mission-driven pilots, senior leadership support, and evaluating existing tools for cost-efficiency and security. The guide highlights frameworks for responsible AI use, investment in technical talent, and measuring usability while showcasing successful use cases like detecting fentanyl networks and training immigration officers.

DHS also established an AI board, assessed chemical and nuclear risks, and provided a detailed inventory of AI applications to advance government use of the technology, with Secretary Mayorkas stressing the balance between leveraging AI's potential and safeguarding individual rights.

$60 billion AI startup

Anthropic is reportedly raising $2 billion in funding at a $60 billion post-investment valuation, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, despite its $875 million in annualized revenue falling short of the $1 billion target it projected for 2024.

Investors are drawn by Anthropic's progress in competing with OpenAI, particularly in coding capabilities, and Lightspeed’s strategy may reflect a shift toward mature investments with high potential returns. The valuation highlights the ongoing trend of hefty pricing in the AI sector, fueled by competition, rapid growth expectations, and investor confidence in AI’s transformative potential.

This valuation equates to 66 times forward revenue, significantly higher than OpenAI's previous valuation multiples and even Databricks’ recent valuation at three times Anthropic’s revenue.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang Keynote at CES 2025

At CES 2025, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang unveiled groundbreaking products and partnerships aimed at advancing gaming, robotics, personal computing, and autonomous vehicles. Highlights included the GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, powered by the next-generation Blackwell AI chip, which promise significant advancements in AI-driven rendering for gamers, developers, and creatives.

Huang also introduced "Cosmos," a new AI model for cost-effective training in robotics and autonomous systems, and announced partnerships with Toyota and Aurora to integrate Nvidia’s DriveOS in next-gen autonomous vehicles and driverless trucks. Additionally, Nvidia revealed Project DIGITS, a $3,000 desktop AI supercomputer launching in May, capable of running AI models with up to 200 billion parameters, bringing powerful AI capabilities to individual developers and enthusiasts.
