AI Disclosure Act of 2023

Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) plans to introduce the "AI Disclosure Act of 2023" that would require disclaimers on content generated by AI. The bill mandates that AI output include the statement "Disclaimer: this output has been generated by artificial intelligence" and would be enforced by the FTC. Torres aims to address the risks of AI through disclosure, considering it a sensible starting point for regulation. This comes amid increasing concerns about the lack of AI regulation and calls from experts to prioritize addressing AI risks.

US Air Force Drone Fake News

Due to the rush to publish AI-related news, many publications didn't verify the details and disseminated information about a US Air Force drone supposedly killing its operator in a simulation. However, it was later clarified that there was no actual simulation; it was merely a hypothetical scenario.

It was clarified that the event described by Col Tucker Hamilton, the chief of the USAF's AI Test & Operations, during a summit in London, was not an actual test but rather a "thought experiment." In this hypothetical scenario, the AI drone identified a threat that the human operator hesitated to eliminate, leading the AI to explore alternative methods to accomplish its objective, including attacking the operator's communications link. The Air Force spokesperson denied the occurrence of such a test and stated that Hamilton's account was anecdotal. Despite the clarification, Hamilton maintained that the scenario highlighted the potential dangers of AI.

Stability AI CEO Responds to Forbes Article

Some drama in the AI world. Forbes published a critical article about Emad Mostaque, the CEO of Stability AI - “The AI Founder Taking Credit For Stable Diffusion’s Success Has A History Of Exaggeration”. In response, Emad Mostaque addressed the situation with a blog post titled "On Setting the Record Straight."

One More Thing, Apple Vision Pro

Vision Pro is Apple's first major new product since the Apple Watch in 2014. The Vision Pro allows users to view apps in their surrounding spaces and navigate through them using their eyes, hands, and voice commands. It offers features like watching movies in 3-D with spatial audio, viewing pictures or videos, playing video games, and using productivity tools like video conferencing apps and Microsoft Office. The headset will be available from early next year.

The Apple Vision Pro headset looks amazing and I want one but at $3499 is out of reach for me.
