46 AI Related Startups in the Y Combinator Winter 2023 Batch

Y Combinator is a startup accelerator that provides seed funding, mentorship, and other resources to early-stage startups. Founded in 2005, Y Combinator has helped launch and grow hundreds of successful companies, including Airbnb, Dropbox, and Reddit. The program typically lasts for three months, during which time startups receive guidance from experienced mentors, participate in weekly dinners with other entrepreneurs, and receive a small investment in exchange for a percentage of equity in their company.

The Winter 2023 batch has 187 companies and 46 are listed as being in the generative AI or artificial intelligence categories. [Link]

Bain & Company + OpenAI Form Alliance

Bain & Company is a global management consulting firm provides advisory services to businesses, non-profits, and governments worldwide. Bain & Company has big name clients to include PepsiCo, Dell, and Procter & Gamble.

This alliance gives OpenAI access to big brands / companies and will most likely accelerate the implementation of OpenAI products at these companies. [Link]

Cool AI Tools and News

Out of the 46 AI-related startups in the YC W23 batch, I'm highlighting a few that are focused on large language models (LLMs), just like GPT3 / ChatGPT. In my opinion, LLMs will have the biggest impact on users and businesses before any other AI technology.

A Meme of the Day

On February 21, 2023, all of OpenAI's services went down for a brief period of time, causing a ripple effect that took many startups offline as well. It was a bit of a reminder of the below meme about how all AI startups are just GPT-3 hiding in disguise.

Well, isn't the whole point of these startups to make life easier for folks who don't want to mess around with OpenAI APIs or dive into GPT-3 playground? That's probably why ChatGPT is killing it, by simplifying text AI for everyone. Let us know what you think here.

Peace out,
