OpenAI has introduced a new way to interact with ChatGPT via phone, allowing users in the U.S. to call 1-800-CHATGPT for up to 15 minutes per month for free. This feature, powered by OpenAI’s Realtime API, provides a simplified ChatGPT experience and aims to make AI more accessible to newcomers.

Globally, users can also message ChatGPT through WhatsApp using the same number, supported by GPT-4o mini. While OpenAI emphasizes that this is a low-cost, easy way to try AI, advanced users are encouraged to stick with the full web-based version for more features. OpenAI assures users that these calls will not be used to train its models.

Salesforce introduces Agentforce 2.0

Salesforce has introduced Agentforce 2.0, an upgraded AI platform designed to transform enterprise workflows through "digital labor." Powered by the new Atlas Reasoning Engine, this technology enables AI agents to handle complex tasks, make decisions, and access company data with advanced reasoning capabilities. Already in use within Salesforce, the platform has automated 83% of customer support queries, reducing human escalations by 50%.

CEO Marc Benioff highlights AI agents as a solution to global labor shortages, with companies like Adecco and reMarkable leveraging the technology for tasks like resume processing and customer service. Agentforce 2.0 integrates with Slack for seamless employee collaboration and incorporates a robust trust layer to ensure data security.

House task force releases 253-page report on AI

The House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) released a comprehensive 253-page report outlining a roadmap for Congress to craft policies on AI. It explores how AI can benefit areas like health, economy, and society while addressing potential risks and misuse. Co-chaired by Reps.

Jay Obernolte and Ted Lieu, the report reflects insights from over 100 experts and provides recommendations across 14 sectors, including healthcare, national security, and small businesses. With more than 100 AI-related bills introduced in this session but limited legislative progress, the report aims to guide future legislation and address challenges like intellectual property disputes and safeguarding against AI threats.

Nvidia launches AI supercomputer for $249

NVIDIA has unveiled the Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit, a compact generative AI supercomputer offering significant performance upgrades at a reduced price of $249 (down from $499). This palm-sized device delivers a 1.7x boost in generative AI inference performance, 70% more processing power (67 INT8 TOPS), and 50% higher memory bandwidth (102GB/s) compared to its predecessor.

Designed for developers, hobbyists, and students, it supports applications like chatbots, robotics, and computer vision. The kit includes an NVIDIA Ampere GPU, a 6-core Arm CPU, and supports up to four high-resolution cameras. NVIDIA's software ecosystem—featuring tools like NVIDIA Isaac, Metropolis, and Omniverse Replicator—further enhances its capabilities.
